Freedom Film Fest – Call for Entry 2022

The Freedom Film Fest (Malaysia) is accepting films until September 30th, 2021.

About the festival:
The Freedom Film Network (FFN) is a not-for-profit body established to support and develop social documentary filmmaking within the context of freedom of expression and values contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights(UDHR) in Malaysia.

Each year the festival focuses on different themes. This year the festival will focus on Pandemik Dua Darjat (Pandemic of Inequality) about how the Covid-19 pandemic has exposed the inequality between the haves and have-nots, and between those in power and the disempowered. People are treated unjustly based on their social status.

– General Rules:
– Films should resonate with this year’s theme.
– Films should expose these double standards, and confront inequality & discrimination.
– Films that showcase inspiring stories of ordinary people’s efforts to redress inequality.
– The festival accepts feature films (over 60 minutes), short films (below 15 minutes) and short documentaries (under 60 minutes) from all over the world.
– The festival accepts student short films (under 10 minutes) only from students of higher education intuitions from Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar.
– Films should have been produced after January 2020.
– Films must be either in English or have English subtitles.
Submission Fees:
* Films from Malaysia – FREE
* Films from South East Asia (SEA) – RM 5 ($ 1,20 USD)
* Other countries – RM 25 ($ 6 USD)
Deadline: September 30th, 2021]
Notification Date: December 31st, 2021
