About the festival:
The Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) is a week-long celebration of Philippine Cinema where new quality genre Filipino films are screened for one (1) week in all regular cinemas nationwide. No foreign film will be screened during PPP except in specialty cinemas to give the opportunity for the whole country to celebrate its own local films. This event is organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines in partnership with the National Cinema Association of the Philippines.
Mechanics:
For 2019, a total of eight (8) local films originating from the Philippines. Three (3) films projects in its advance stage of development or production stage will be selected (deadline: March 8th, 2019). And five (5) finished films or films in post-production will be selected (deadline: May 31st, 2019). Among the final selection, a maximum of two (2) films will be accepted per genre e.g. romance, comedy, action etc. Each production company may only have a maximum of two (2) entries in the full lineup, including co-production and distribution partnerships.
General Rules for Projects in Advance Stage of Development or Production Stage:
– The event is open to independent production companies.
– Production Company may submit as many entries but only one (1) project will be accepted as part of the final selection.
– Six (6) entries will be shortlisted and will be required to do a live pitch to the Selection Committee which will then select three (3) final entries.
– Submitting Production Company must be an independent production company and must either be a member of the PMPPA (Philippine Motion Picture Producers Association) or must have produced at least two films that were theatrically released in commercial cinemas.
– The Film should have themes reflective of the Filipino sensibilities with wide audience appeal.
– The Film should have been produced from 2018 – 2019.
– Philippine Premiere is a MUST. Films which premiered internationally are eligible.
– The Film should have a minimum of 75 minutes and a maximum of 180 minutes in length.
– The film must be submitted with English subtitles.
– The production Company must have an in-house distributor or distribution company attached to the project.
– The production Company must submit a marketing plan and distribution strategy.
General Rules for Finished Films or Film in Post-Production:
– Open to ALL PRODUCERS with a full length feature film project directed by a Filipino director.
– Production Company must submit a finished film or a film in its final production stage (rough cut or picture lock).
– Production Company may submit as many entries but a maximum of two (2) will be accepted including co-produced projects as part of the final selection.
– The film should have themes reflective of the Filipino sensibilities culture with wide audience appeal.
– The film should have been produced from 2018-2019.
– The film must have its Philippine premiere during the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino and must not have been previously shown in any format in the country.
– Philippine Premiere is a MUST. Films which premiered internationally are eligible.
– The Film should have a minimum of 75 minutes and a maximum of 180 minutes in length.
– The film must be submitted with English subtitles.
– The production Company must have an in-house distributor or distribution company attached to the project.
– The production Company must submit a marketing plan and distribution strategy.
Selected projects will receive a Co-Production Fund. For projects in advance stage of development or production stage, there will be a production equipment from CMB Film Services and a Marketing & Distribution grant. For Finished Films or Films in Post Production there will be a Publicity & Promotion fund and a marketing & distribution grant.
– Submission Fees & Deadlines:
Films in Advanced Stage of Development or Production Stage – $ 5,000 PHP (submit on or before March 9th, 2019)
For Finished Films or Films in Post-Production
Until 1st Deadline – April 30th,2019 – $ 5,000 PHP
Until 2nd Deadline – May 15th,2019 – $ 7,000 PHP
Until 3rd Deadline – June 15th, 2019 – $ 10,000 PHP
