Qcinema International Film Festival – Documentary Post-Production Grant Finalists

The organizers of the QCinema International Film Festival (Philippines) announced the projects that will receive the Documentary Post-Production Grant of Php 500,000.

About the festival:
The QCinema International Film Festival (QCinema) is an annual festival designed to serve as the lens through which the general public will get to appreciate the active role of Quezon City in Philippine filmmaking from its pioneering years in the 50’s down to the present and on to the future. It features a broad spectrum of local and international films of all genres, through its various sections, both competition and non-competition. It is highlighted by films that receive substantial grants from the Quezon City Film Development Foundation (QCFDC).

A is for Agusting by Grace Pimentel Simbulan

In a remote mountainous region of northern Philippines, an illiterate indigenous man gets fed up with being exploited by his employers and decides to go to school. With the goal of making a better life for himself and his family, 41-year old Agustine Tiburcio starts learning his ABCs.

For my alien friend by Jet B. Leyco

Stories of Filipino men and women, and other living things passing through similar objects, families spaces, non-linear time, and dreams alike – all connected from the lens and experience of a stranger, an Alien whose language is disconnected and demands an interaction from the viewer to reconnect these stories to find their own meaning.

 

Sping

Spring by the Sea by Aleia Garcia

Alternating Philippines and Saudi Arabia as her home, the filmmaker uses personal home videos and present footage to tell the story of her family.
