The Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) is now accepting films and scripts for Southeast Asia Film Lab. Here you can find more information about their Call for Entry.

The Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) is the largest and longest-running film event in Singapore. Founded in 1987, the Festival focuses on showcasing international films and providing a global platform for the best of Singapore cinema. Over the decades, it has grown to become an iconic event in the Singapore arts calendar. With its focus on groundbreaking Asian cinema, this prestigious event is known for its dynamic programming and commitment to the development of a vibrant local film culture.

Feature Film & Short Film Submissions
Singapore International Film Festival welcomes international films to be part of its Official Selection. Its Competition Section is open to Asian feature films and Southeast Asian short films.

– Films must have been complete no earlier than June 1st, 2017.
– Feature Films should be 60 minutes and above. And Short Films should be under 30 minutes.
– Feature Films may be from any country of production. Short Films MUST be from Southeast Asia.
– Feature Films In Competition must be directed by a filmmaker of Asia nationality or origin.
– Short Films must be directed by a filmmaker of Southeast Asian nationality or origin.
– Films must NOT have been broadcast on TV, made available on the internet or screened publicity in Singapore in any way prior to the Festival.
– Films must be SINGAPORE Premiere. Priority will be given to World, International and Asian premieres
– Submissions must be done via the official page of the SGIFF.
– Submission Fees:
From April 16th – August 5th | Free
From August 6th – 20th | USD$ 25

Southeast Asia Film Lab
SGIFF’s Southeast Asian Film Lab is a story development workshop for emerging filmmakers from Southeast Asia embarking on their first feature-length film. As much about providing feedback and advice as it is about strengthening communal ties within the region, participants will be given insights into the varied paths taken by established industry guests when making their early works, as well as ample personal time with each of the three mentors. The lab will end with a pitch in front of an industry panel for a development prize – the Most Promising Project – that will be awarded at the Silver Screen Awards.

– A feature-length screenplay is defined as a work of fiction or non-fiction that serves as the blueprint for a film that equals or exceeds 60 minutes in length including opening and end credits.
– Applicant MUST be a screenwriter and/or writer/director of at least 1 short film that has been screened in international film festivals.
– Applicant MUST be of Southeast Asia nationality, origin or residence.
– Applicant MUST not have made a feature length film before.
– Project submitted should be at an early stage, and have not been developed beyond a first draft screenplay.
– Submission Fee: FREE
