We continue with our list of twenty-two Asian films you cannot miss at the 23rd Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival which will take place from June 27th – July 7th, in Bucheon, South Korea.

Melancholic by Tanaka Seiji – Japan | 2018 – 114 minutes

Kazuhiko, a graduate of a prestigious university, isn’t enjoying his life. He takes a job at a bathhouse where he discovers that the baths are used as a space for killing people after closing hours.

A woman meets an old high school friend, whom she knows well. When his car is smashed up, he refuses to call the police, despite knowing the identities of the perpetrators. He is still accepting blame for something she did a long time ago…

Popular K-Pop singer IU stars as a different character in four separate episodes made by four famous directors. A Netflix original movie that is to be first shown in the cinema at Bucheon Fantastic Film Festival.

An ambitious YouTuber attempts to resurrect Sadako’s curse in order to gain more followers. When he is successful, a group of people must work together to stop it before it’s too late. Part of the Ring franchise.

Four high school girls are enjoying life when a virus breaks out, turning people into zombies. They are struggling between two opposite worlds, one peaceful and one filled with zombies.

The Culprit by Koh Jungwood – Korea | 2018 – 100 minutes

Someone brutally murders Young-hoon’s wife. A hair sample was found on his wife’s body and the detectives use it to trace it back to his friend Joon-sung and locks him up. Seemingly becoming a murder’s wife overnight, Da-yeon asks Young-hoon to testify on his behalf but when he doesn’t show up for the trial, she goes to visit him at his house.

The Game of Life by Yang Jaeho – Korea | 2019 – 118 minutes

Hoo-jung’s wife goes to New Zealand while he continues working at home as a teacher. However, he soon receives the tragic news that she has passed away. Intriguingly, his wife sent him a movie script before her passing which will lead Hoo-jung into some unexpected events.

The Girl in a Tiny Room by Park Sojin – Korea | 2018 – 81 minutes

Hee-Joo quits school as a result of the incessant bullying. She stays at home and surfs the internet all day. She meets Dong-Ha online, and he teaches her hypnosis so as to improve her confidence. However, Hee-Joo decides to use the hypnosis for other reasons…

The Thieves by Choi Donghoon – Korea | 2012 – 139 minutes
