We present a list of twenty-two short films you should not miss at the 15th Korea Independent Animation Film festival – Indie-AniFest which will take place from September 19th – 24th at the CGV Myeong-dong Station Cine Library in Seoul, Korea.

About the festival:
The Indie-AniFest, the only film festival in Korea specializing in independent animations, now aims to become the world’s only Asian animation film festival. A film festival created and managed with the participation of independent animation filmmakers from Korea, Indie-AniFest strives for the values of independence, experimentation, passion, and vision. As we expand the scope and importance of this festival through our core values and the participation of artists, we hope that Indie-AniFest will grow into a unique film festival in the world where Asian animations come together.

My feeling of psychological distance from Jochiwon is proportionalto my physical distance. This animation expresses that relationship, from myhigh school self standing in Jochiwon to my current self standing there.

A Fish on My Bed by Pei-yi Lin – Taiwan | 2019 – 6 minutes

The story is set in modern Taiwan where the protagonist is a college student. Our theme is “fantasy broughtby menstruation.” Menstruation is a physiological condition that everywoman experiences. The age of the protagonist is consistent with our own sothat we can better understand her heart and personality. In Taiwan,menstruation is often seen with a sense of shame. Despite being a normalphysiological phenomenon, we are always reluctant to face this fate whichcannot be avoided. In this film, we have inserted many hints and images ofmenstrual concealment and have drawn a variety of associations.

Am I a wolf? by Amir Houshang Moein – Iran | 2018 – 9 minutes

Thestudents are performing a play called . Everybody has a role. They are totally immersed in their roles suchthat the boundary between reality and acting becomes blurred. The child actingas the wolf is doomed to be defeated, and he feels lonely and irritated. Hetakes his role too seriously, and there is a bit of chaos. At the end, thepresence of the other children and his friends beside him take him out of thismood.

Home by Kim Bosol – Korea | 2019 – 15 minutes

It is a world where high buildingsfill the sky and things get thrown away as soon as they become useless. A dognamed Mogeulee got abandoned when he was a puppy because he couldn’t prove hewas useful. Mogeulee wanders about from place to place, and he ends up in adumpsite. Hurt by people, Mugeulee is hostile to everyone he meets, but heopens up to a robot named ‘Rom’ he met in the dumpsite. After finding out thatRom wishes to go back to its home, Mogeulee goes through hardships and troubleswith Rom to find the way to Rom’s home.

Water Baby by Kim Sang-nahm – Korea | 2019 – 10 minutes

“The mother is away for a whileand the child falls into the sea. What has happened since then?” A small fishing village near the citycenter, a child who wakes up alone in the middle of the day walks around in andout of the house looking for his mother. Through the back door of a yard, thechild goes to the beach and suddenly disappears. The child who becomes a dropof water by a touch goes to a deep lake in the sea and stays along with other dropsof water. One day when the full moon illuminates, moonlight comes over the deeplake in the sea. The drops of water come over the sky through clouds and theybegin a journey out to the world with the wind.
