Aquarela by Viktor Kossakovsky will open the 16th Seoul Eco Film Festival which will take place from May 23rd – 29th, 2019 in Seoul Korea.

Launched in 2004 the Seoul Green Film Festival seeks to the coexistence of humans and the environment through the movie and discuss alternatives and practices for the future, it has introduced the domestic and foreign excellent work dealing with urgent environmental problems in the world. It also contributes greatly to enhance the environmental sensitivity of citizens through innovative and interesting experience events and educational programs that can be enjoyed only at the festival.

Aquarela takes audiences on a deeply immersive journey through the transformative beauty and raw power of water. Captured at a rare 96 frames-per-second, the film is a visceral wake-up call that humans are no match for the sheer force and capricious will of Earth’s most precious element. From the precarious frozen waters of Russia’s Lake Baikal to Miami, Florida in the throes of Hurricane Irma to Venezuela’s mighty Angel Falls, water is Aquarela’s main character, with director Victor Kossakovsky capturing her many personalities in startling cinematic clarity.

About the director:
Born in Leningrad, Viktor KOSSAKOVSKY began his career in motion pictures at the Leningrad studio of Documentaries as assistant cameraman, assistant director and editor in 1978. He graduated from the Higher Courses of Film Writers and Directors in Moscow in 1988. His films won various film festivals. He has begun his own film production company in St. Petersburg KOSSAKOVSKY Film Production, with the objective of creating a cinema of poetics and reality.
