We continue with our list of short films that you shouldn’t miss at the 13th Seoul Yeongdeungpo International Extreme-Short Image& Film Festival, which will take place on-site and online from September 7th – 12th, 2021 in Seoul, Korea.

Hanna with her injured nose covered lives her daily life and looks for her boyfriend Hyunsoo who is hiding from her. When Hanna goes to his house, she meets his mother Minok.

Nursery Rhymes by Michael Kam – Singapore | 2020 – 10 minutes

Drawing inspiration from his memories of his grandmothers, a Singapore filmmaker imagines their childhood spent under different imperialist rule.

Piglet Piglet by Tsung-Yen Lin – Taiwan | 2020 – 15 minutes

Leading up to the 2020 Taiwanese presidential election, a pivotal moment for a young democracy, Yu-Ann discovers that she is eight weeks pregnant ? news she decides to keep to herself, given her husband’s preoccupation with opening a Ba-Wan (dumpling) store. Before Yu-Ann can find the right moment to tell her husband about the pregnancy, she unexpectedly suffers a miscarriage. Devastated, Yu-Ann is comforted by her partner, leaving both to wrestle with the inherent unpredictability of the future.

Ring Ring by Yoon Sohyun – Korea | 2020 – 14 minutes

Sun-kyung tries to win as she gets attracted a ring when she sees it at the auction which reminds her of her childhood. Yet, someone takes it by proposing a larger amount. On the way, she accidentally meets the winner again and trespasses into their house to steal the ring.

Save Me by Shin Sojeong – Korea | 2020 – 16 minutes

A celebrity whose name has already been forgotten attends a film festival alone and encounters a fake fan at the most inopportune moment.

After finishing school, a girl does not return to her house. Instead, she just wanders outside and spends time alone. Her day has a very long day.

Treetop by Nam Seojeong – Korea | 2021 – 13 minutes
Section: Competition 7: In front of that river

An ordinary woman who has suffered domestic violence runs out of the house. While roaming, She meets people around her for help and decides to do something irreversible.

Unnie Small library by Han Nari – Korea | 2021 – 12 minutes
Section: Extreme-Short Film Academy in Yeongdeungpo

Unnie’s Small Library’, located near Daerim Station is a private library run by the Seoul Women’s Association. Anyone can use it as a space to form a local community where children can grow up safely. Children and fosterers form a network by seminars and play classes. The film contains interviews with activists who run the space even in unstable situations. Let’s look at the pride of the activists about the space and the changes they are making.

Walking Through Words by Park Hyemin – Korea | 2021 – 6 minutes
Section: Extreme-Short Film Academy in Yeongdeungpo

Suddenly, I discover a weird inscription on the wall in Yeongdeungpo subway station. Upon this opportunity, while I’m walking along the street, some signs, inscriptions, symbols stand out from the ordinary routine. I think of whom put up theses signs, whom made theses inscriptions.

We don’t need magic by Yang Dohye – Korea | 2021 – 6 minutes
Section: Competition 3: Cracking Illusion

Suzy witnesses her boyfriend, Yong Pal, performing magic and learns that he is a wizard. She tells her situation to her co-worker Sang Eun and recalls all of his strange events and suspicious actions that she couldn’t understand. Yong Pal is now a stranger to her, and she even feels afraid of him.

What’s Wrong With your foot? by Choi Youjin – Korea | 2021 – 13 minutes
Section: Extreme-Short Film Academy in Yeongdeungpo

Mom disappears at the same time every day. I wanted to record and share my mother’s daily life who try to overcome menopause. I follow my mother’s trace who walks until her feet are torn apart.
