These are thirty short films you shouldn’t miss at the 13th Seoul Yeongdeungpo International Extreme-Short Image& Film Festival, which will take place on-site and online from September 7th – 12th, 2021 in Seoul, Korea.

A trip to heaven by Duong Dieu Linh – Vietnam | 2020 – 15 minutes

During a peculiar tour bus to Mekong Delta, 50-year-old Mdm.Tam bumps into her high school sweetheart. She’s hopeful for a chance of reconciliation, but maybe he’s not. (SESIFF 2021)

Best of Rain by Kim Choin – Korea | 2021 – 14 minutes
Section: Extreme-Short Film Academy in Yeongdeungpo

Cho-in who is unknown actress decided to shoot a documentary about rain. She feels unfair that people hate rain, even though rain is just trying his best. But it doesn’t rain. Nevertheless, she continues to film the documentary. (SESIFF 2021)

Between You and Me by Lee Daeyoung – Korea | 2017 – 14 minutes
Section: Special Screening Actor Focus Lim Sunwoo

Min-kyung takes on the role of the main character in a short film and starts filming. As time goes on, problems begin to arise on the set. (SESIFF 2021)

Crossroads by Han Jisu – Korea | 2019 – 12 minutes

A woman gets in a taxi to go somewhere. The driver rambles on and on, and the woman doesn’t pay much attention. Until what the driver says gets weirder and weirder. (SESIFF 2021)

Farewell, Girl by Choi Yunho – Korea | 2021 – 15 minutes
Section: Non-Competition, Bloody Night

“Let’s talk about each other and die.” The story of a girl who doesn’t like being either normal or different and another girl with opposite tendencies. (SESIFF 2021)

Fluorescent Light by Cha Sungmin – Korea | 2021 – 16 minutes
Section: Competition 2: Labyrinth of Father

Sung-je, who dropped out of school because he just didn’t have enough money, learns to do electric repair work. He yearns to carry out his task, but the classroom electricity further breaks down due to his continuous mistakes. The more he tries harder, the more things get twisted. Yet, he now starts to perform what he really can do well. (SESIFF 2021)

8 years old girl Chasuna travels from her home on grassland to visit her father who lives in the big city. However, during her father’s birthday party, she finds out he is married to a Chinese woman. Chasuna has to learn how to accept her as part of the family. (SESIFF 2021)

Incomplete Women by Huh Suyoung – Korea | 2020 – 10 minutes
Section: Competition 6: Day, One More

One day, the dismembered body of a woman was found. Except her lower body and the left hand, other body parts were disappeared without a trace and no evidence of any intrusion. So her lower body and the left hand take the road in search of others that had left for the reason they hated each other so much. (SESIFF 2021)

Laundry Life by Lihua Liu – China | 2021 – 5 minutes
Section: Non-Competition: Mobile Stylo

By means of clothes personification, the heroine is represented through the process from handwork to modern laundry, and the mother-daughter affection in the growth process of the heroine is also shown. (SESIFF 2021)

Lunch Time by Jung Insun – Korea | 2021 – 8 minutes
Section: Extreme-Short Film Academy in Yeongdeungpo

Lunch time is the only free time allowed for office workers. An honest interview with office workers began on “What would change if we had another 30 minutes of lunch time?” (SESIFF 2021)

Maria Ado´E by Gleinda Stefany – Indonesia | 2020 – 13 minutes
Section: Special Screening Indonesia Focus: Minikino Film Week

Maria, is originally from East Nusa Tenggara, Eastern Indonesia. She’s studying in Java, where she had to face the reality of racism. (SESIFF 2021)

Mom’s Gimbap by Kim Hongrin – Korea | 2020 – 5 minutes
Section: Non-Competition Mobile Stylo

Now, her daughter Su-Jeong, who is tired of caring for her aged and sick mother, goes to the railroad station to pick up her mother at a nursing home, and recalls her happy childhood memories while eating a gimbap that her mother gave her. (SESIFF 2021)

Mullae-dong Medley by Am Jaeyoung – Korea | 2021 – 10 minutes
Section: Extreme-Short Film Academy in Yeongdeungpo

Mullae-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, is like an island where manufaturing, ironwork, and bearing factories share and cooperate in one place. Mullae-dong is a place where sweat and consideration created sadness and joy. The mechanical sounds that spread from factory to factory continue like a medley, as well as their sorrows. That Mullae-dong is disappearing. (SESIFF 2021)
