Pantheon Discount by Stephan Castang – France | 2016 – 14:43 min.
In 2050, a machine has replaced medicine: the Sherlock. A kind of super scanner that not only diagnoses but also heals depending on the patient’s means. Doctors have became financial advisers who propose health insurances and…more or less drastic solutions.
Special Jury Award
Happy End by Jan Saska – Czech Republic | 2015 – 5:43 min.
A black comedy about death with a happy ending. A splendid chain of unlikely encounters. Hunters, a tractor driver, a disco boy, and a corpse.
Best Extreme-short Award
Working with Animals by Marc Reisbig – Norway | 2016 – 4:02 min.
Working with animals is about a documentary film director trying to control something that is inherently uncontrollable, wild animals. Juan Sebastian Elcano, is a seasoned, self important but sensitive nature documentary filmmaker. He starts treating his subjects, the animals, as if they were actors. The film is a character study of a passionate artist in his natural habitat. It takes the form of a behind-the-scenes film from one of his documentaries set on the Galapagos Islands. It is part QA and part observing him in the field.
