18th New York Asian Film Festival – 2019 Programme

We present the full lineup for the 18th New York Asian Film Festival which will take place from June 28th – July 14th, 2019.

This year the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) presented a superb programme featuring 53 Asian films (5 International Premieres, 23 North American Premieres, 4 US Premieres and 8 New York Premieres). The NYAFF will take place from June 28th – July 11th at the Film at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theather (165 West 65th Street), and from July 11th – 14th at the SVA Theatre (333 West 23rd Street). Activities will open with the screening of Samurai Marathon by Bernard Rose. Apart from the screenings the festival will present (sponsored by HBO®) a series of meetings and free talks with Special Guests at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center’s Amphitheater.

Opening Film: Samurai Marathon by Bernard Rose

The Main Competition features Push and Shove by Wu Nan (China), 5 Million Dollar Life by Moong Sung-ho (Japan), Lying to Mom by Nojiri Katsumi (Japan), Ma by Kenneth Lim Dagatan (Philippines), Another Child by Kim Yoon-seok (South Korea), Maggie by Yi Ok-seop (South Korea), and Han Dan by Huang Chao-liang (Taiwan).

The festival will showcase nine Korean films in celebration of the 100 years of Korean Cinema. There will be also a Tribute to Yuen Woo-ping featuring 3 iconic, Iron Money (1993), Master Z: Ip Man Legacy (2018) and The Miracle Fighters (1982). The International Premiere Program features, Uncle and House by Luo Hanxing (China), The Attorney by Wong Kwok-fai (Hong Kong), Ma by Kenneth Kim Dagatan (Philippines), Move the Grave by Jeong Seung-o (South Korea) and Someone in the Clouds by Mitch Lin and Gary Tseng (Taiwan).

Some of the highlights are The Crossing by Bai Xue (China), Jinpa by Pema Tseden (China), The Rib by Zhang Wei (China), G Affairs by Lee Cheuk-pan (Hong Kong), Still Human by Oliver Chan (Hong Kong), Fly Me to the Saitama by Takeuchi Hideki (Japan), Lying to Mom by Nojiri Katsumi (Japan), Signal Rock by Chito S. Roño (Philippines), Maggie by Yi Ok-seop (South Korea), Another Child by Kim Yoon-seok (South Korea), Someone in the Clouds by Mitch Lin and Gary Tseng (Taiwan), among others.
