These are four feature films you shouldn’t miss at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival which will take place in cinemas and online from November 3 – 13, 2022.

Trapped Balloon とべない風船 follows a woman who has not seen her father for several years and does not have a good relationship with him. Slowly the relationship between the woman and her father changes thanks to an unsociable neighbor. (VAFF 2022)

A love letter to Filipina Domestic Workers of Hong Kong, this film highlights the community’s passionate street dancing and one woman’s plan to run away. Captured on Super-16 amidst the Hong Kong protests. WE DON’T DANCE FOR NOTHING tackles LGBTQ+ themes, issues of workers’ rights, and Hong Kong’s political landscape. (VAFF 2022)
