These are nine short films you shouldn’t miss at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival which will take place from November 2 – 20, 2022 in Taipei, Taiwan.

A Dog Under Bridge by Tang Rehoo – China | 2022 – 13 minutes
Section: Golden Horse Award

A Dog Under Bridge shows how director Tang sees society from a dog’s point of view. It turns out that things which seem normal to humans could look ridiculous in the eyes of a dog. (TGHFF 2022)

A Night with Moosina by Tsai Shiu-cheng – Taiwan | 2022 – 26 minutes
Section: Golden Horse Award

On a full moon night, a ten-year-old girl from a farming family in a remote village is lured by Moosina into a cave in the mountains, where she uncovers the secret about why the mountain demon always plays dirty tricks on children. (TGHFF 2022)

Between the Stars and Waves by Lau Kek-huat – Taiwan, Malaysia | 2022 – 52 minutes
Section: Golden Horse Award

One million people in Malaysia’s Sabah are stateless. Fifty thousand of them are children who have been denied their rights to public education and healthcare. This is a story of those who learn to speak up for themselves. (TGHFF 2022)

Frontier by Li Ming – China | 2022 – 30 minutes
Section: Golden Horse Award

Set in a coastal city in China, [Frontier] describes the friendship between two kids – a local Han boy and a Uygur boy, who just moved to this city. Their friendship is greatly influenced by social prejudice and cultural differences. (TGHFF 2022)

Section: Chinese Global Vision

In COVID-plagued Singapore, people begin to fear reality and feel a growing sense of uncertainty. A story of three individuals as they face the global crisis, impending loneliness and their family. (TGHFF 2022)

Section: Chinese Global Vision

Teenaged Xin Ru works as a scam call operator, scamming people into sending money to her company. When she gets pregnant, she must do whatever it takes to earn the money for an abortion before her controlling father finds out. (TGHFF 2022)

Seed who can’t get under the sun and the shadow who needs light to exist is the meaning of life for each other. Seed wants to be with the shadow on a journey in this strange world. (TGHFF 2022)

Taking care of a disabled son is a challenge for a single mother. When the boy becomes a man and the woman grows old, both need to face the most painful decision of their journey together. (TGHFF 2022)
