
These are forty short films you shouldn’t miss at the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (Japan) which is taking place in cinemas until June 19th and online until June 21st. Winners will be screened online until June 30th, 2022.

A mother, father, and child are trapped in a dark box. The child coughs intermittently. The mother asks how they ended up in this situation and father replies that he has no clue. The sound of bombs exploding in the distance. What’s going on? (SSFF 2022)

Nika returns to her hometown Kiryu to announce her upcoming marriage to her family. Since her grandmother has passed away, her father and mother are alone at home. Malice comes up abruptly. In the blnk of an eye. Suddenly on a whim like a flapping insect. One day a young hermit finds a winged insect and crushes it out of disgust. Moshari’ is a traditional South Asian mosquito net, made for protection against vermin at night. When the world is overrun with bloodthirsty creatures, staying inside the moshari is the only way to safety. In Dhaka, Bangladesh: two sisters must stay inside the moshari to survive – but first they must survive each other. (SSFF 2022)
