On set for a commercial, an actress is overcome with a stomachache after eating forbidden octopus. With her stuck in the bathroom, the production is left with a furious client, nervous producer, and a chaotic set. (SSFF 2022)

Hung-hsia, a 12-year-old Burmese girl from a village in northern Myanmar, is married off to a wealthy Chinese family in Yunnan, China, whom she has never met. On the date of the wedding, the groom is bedridden with illness and unable to attend, and Hung-hsia has to complete the ceremony with a rooster. (SSFF 2022)

Zara, a schoolgirl in Karachi (Pakistan), shares a sensual dance video with her virtual boyfriend, who then blackmails her. Every year, thousands of people flock to Yangon from rural dry zone to work in the factories. Ma Nwet Yin Win is one of them. She left her home on an island in the Ayeyarwaddy River twenty years ago, fighting for workers’ rights. (SSFF 2022)

Section: Smartphone Film Competition supported by Sony’s Xperia
when teenage Pradip lost his father, he became helpless. The pandemic made living tougher and Pradip also had to complete the rituals of his father’s funeral. But the question arises, when he got to know that, funeral won’t be completed without a picture of the late person, is it really obvious to complete the funeral? (SSFF 2022)

Section: Cinematic Tokyo Program
In 2020, COVID-19 suddenly strikes the world. A state of emergency is declared and people disappear from the streets. The director, Katsuhiko Mori filmed the streets every night in a deserted Tokyo, documenting a landscape and an era that may never be seen again. Set to the universal sound of classical music. They often face troublesome threats from gangsters and thieves, even if these very people are their only customers.
