We continue with our list of films that you shouldn’t miss at the 23rd Jeonju International Film Festival, which will take place from April 28 until May 7, 2022.

**Passerby #3** by Shin Su-won – Korea | 2010 – 92 minutes
**Section**: Hommage: Shin Su-won and Korean Women Directors

Ji-wan quits her job to pursue her dream of becoming a film director and starts writing a screenplay. But it is so difficult to make a debut as a filmmaker, and sometimes she suffers from hallucinations. One day, while running on the playground with a feeling of despair, she sees a sparkling rainbow in a puddle of water. And she decides to start a new project. (JIFF 2022)

**Peppermint Candy** by Lee Chang-dong – Korea | 1999 – 131 minutes
**Section**: Lee Chang-dong: The Truth of the Invisible

Spring in 1999. A group of middle-aged working-class friends meets for the 20th year reunion of their old factory worker’s association. While they sing and dance up a storm, their long-lost friend Youngho shows up, disrupting the party. He climbs on top of a railroad track and refuses to budge despite the danger of an approaching train. When he shouts, “I am going back,” time runs forward as the train goes back. (JIFF 2022)

Mija lives with her middle-schooler grandson in a small suburban city located along the Han River. By chance, she takes a “poetry” class at a local community center and is challenged to write a poem for the first time in her life. She tries to discover beauty in her everyday life, but she learns the world is not that beautiful when she encounters an urgent incident. (JIFF 2022)

In a world where people start to stop one by one, Eunae wanders from one place to another with her dog, Mongi. While walking through a stopped street, she faces her childhood. Upon her arrival at ruins, she meets a man who had been waiting for her, without having stopped. (JIFF 2022)

Ray and Dio, father and son, working day and night shifts respectively, both reticent and emotionless. Somehow they have maintained social distance perfectly since long before the pandemic because of family issues and generation gaps. (JIFF 2022)

“DO NOT poop in my toilet!” Grandma Geumbun lives alone for life. Her roommate Jiwoong is a professional part-timer. A project to live with the senior who lives alone, which started to save some rent, repeats the difficulties and overcomes. Through that, they get close to each other. What will be the meaning of their room-sharing in this world with single-life hegemony? (JIFF 2022)

The flight scheduled to leave Incheon International Airport for New York makes an emergency landing at Gimhae Airport due to engine problems. As the passengers will take an alternative flight the following day, they are staying at a hotel provided by the airline during a layover. While staying an unscheduled night at the same hotel, they have an unexpected experience. (JIFF 2022)

After his business goes bankrupt, CEO Kyung-min kills his wife impulsively. He seeks out his middle school friend, Jong-suk, who works as a ghostwriter for an autobiography, despite his dream of writing his own novel. For the first time in 15 years, Jong-suk is taken aback by Kyung-min’s unexpected visit. And they bring up their reality and memories that they wanted to hide. (JIFF 2022)

**Whether the Weather is Fine** by Carlo Francisco Manatad – Philippines, France, Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, Qatar | 2021 – 104 minutes – **Section**: World Premiere | Korean Premiere

Determined to flee to the big city after Typhoon Haiyan ravages a coastal town, Miguel searches for his mother Norma and his beloved Andrea before another storm approaches. (JIFF 2022)
