The festival was launched in 2014 as the first festival ever held inside an airport’s terminal building. In 2019, the festival had 43,000 visitors from all over the world for four days and also received over 2,100 applications for the competitions, which is the highest number of submissions. It means the festival has been recognized internationally. Now the festival is one of the most prestigious animation festivals in Japan.
