About the festival:
Mumbai Film Festival is organized by theMumbaiAcademyof the Moving Image (MAMI). In 1997, a group of film industry stalwarts founded the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image as a not for profit Trust. The main intention was to organize an annual International Film Festival of which the film industry and the country can be proud of.

MAMI aims to foster a climate of good cinema. Appreciation of good cinema, stripped off all the limiting labels of art and commercial, can only come about through exposure to the best of films the world has to offer. The festival is the first step in that direction.

Sections:
India Gold: presents the best of Indian fiction and documentary feature films. Through this section, the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star showcases breakthrough contemporary Indian films produced in India.

India Story: presents Indian feature films of great merit to the Indian audience and international guests. This section of the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star focuses on diversity and bringing best quality films from various regions of the country. This is a non-competitive section.

International Competition: is a prestigious platform that shines a spotlight on new cinematic voices. Through this section, the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star aims to present innovative works of merit by first time fiction or documentary features, discover new talents, and promote them.

World Cinema: features the India premieres of critically acclaimed feature and documentary films from all over the world. Through this section, the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star aims to provide a glimpse into various cultures from around the world and to promote exemplary and stellar works of cinematic works.

Dimensions Mumbai: showcases short films made by young filmmakers from Mumbai between the ages of 18 and 25. It is a platform for young filmmakers to display their talent and celebrate the city of dreams.

Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films: was introduced to acknowledge the growing importance of the short film format. The mission is to celebrate original short films and help aspiring young filmmakers get an opportunity to screen their works. Submissions for this section will open at a later date.

General Rules:
– Films must have been completed after July 10th, 2019 in order for it to be eligible for India Gold, India Story, and Dimensions Mumbai section. For International Competition and World Cinema sections, the date of completion must be October 25th, 2019 or after.
– The minimum duration of a feature length film (fiction or documentary) should be 50 minutes or more.
– India Premiere is a MUST.
– Films submitted in any form to earlier editions of the festival are ineligible to apply.
– Films should be submitted via the Festival’s website (link below).
