KOSMORAMA – Trondheim International Film Festival – Asian Presence 2023

We present the Asian films that will be screened at the KOSMORAMA – Trondheim International Film Festival which will take place from March 6 – 12, 2023 in Trondheim, Norway.

A Hundred Flowers by Genki Kawamura – Japan | 2022 – 104 minutes

Suffering from Alzheimer’s, Yuriko’s memories are gradually disappearing, and her son Izumi and his pregnant wife Kaori have to deal with this challenging situation. Though she can still recognise them, it is a question of how long this will last. As Yuriko’s memories fade, Izumi unravels more and more of her unknown past. (KOSMORAMA 2023)

Kiki’s Delivery Service by Hayao Myazaki – Japan | 1989 – 103 minutes

It’s Kiki’s 13th birthday, which can only mean one thing – she has to move out of home! This may sound like a scary prospect for many, but not to a witch like Kiki. In fact it is quite normal for all witches to jump on their broomsticks and fly away into the full-moon night. Love Life by Koji Fukada – Japan, France | 2022 – 123 minutes

Taeko lives a pleasant and peaceful life with her husband Jiro and young son Keita. All this changes suddenly when tragedy strikes, bringing the boy’s biological father and Jiro’s ex-girlfriend back into the frame, altering the balance and boundaries between grief and shame, loneliness and love. Project Wolf Hunting by Hongsun Kim – Korea | 2022 – 122 minutes

A group of 47 fugitives have been arrested and are to be sent back to South Korea on a cargo ship. In spite of the multitude of seasoned police officers keeping an eye on the prisoners, the lawless lot launch into an all-out riot soon after departure. Unbeknownst to the cops or the criminals, they are also in the company of the abominable figure Alpha, who is locked down in the hold. (KOSMORAMA 2023)

25-year-old Freddie, adopted and raised in France, spontaneously decides to travel back to South Korea to track down her biological parents. Stone Turtle by Ming Jin Woo – Indonesia, Malaysia | 2022 – 91 minutes

In this gorgeous film we meet Zahara, who lives on a small remote island in Malaysia. One day a strange man arrives on the island and asks Zahara to show him around, on the pretence that he is researching turtles. The two soon become entangled in a life-threatening game. (KOSMORAMA 2023)

Shizuku is engrossed in books and the worlds that unfold as she turns the pages. One day she discovers a name on the library card of a book from the local library. Who could this person be?
