7th Black Canvas Contemporary Film Festival – Call for Entry 2023

Dear Asian filmmakers, the Black Canvas Contemporary Film Festival (Mexico) is accepting films until May 31, 2023.

About the festival:
Black Canvas Festival de Cine Contemporaneo arises from the need to show different narrative and aesthetic perspectives, through new cinematographic proposals, genres, styles and nationalities; in the face of the wave of emerging cinema and the extensive film production in the world that needs different spaces for projection. One of the objectives of the festival is to create a space in which viewers have a greater understanding of the works, creating deep links through our various academic activities with filmmakers, film critics and cinephiles open to the multiple and immeasurable stimuli of the cinematographic kaleidoscope.

Eligibility:
– The festival accepts short films (under 40 minutes) and feature films (over 40 minutes) of all kind of genres or format (narrative, documentary, animation, and experimental).
– Films must be Director’s first, second and even third films.
– Films must have been produced after January 1, 2021.
– Films must be Mexico Premiere.
– All selected films must have subtitles in English, if the original language is Spanish. In the case of international films, subtitles in Spanish will be requested.
Submission Fees:
*New Horizon Section – $ 21.91 USD
*Beyond the Canvas – FREE
*New Horizons (Shorts) – $ 21.91 USD
Deadline: May 31, 2023
Notification Date: September 4, 2023
