38th Guadalajara International Film Festival – Call for Entry 2023

Dear Asian filmmakers, the Guadalajara International Film Festival (Mexico) is accepting short films until January 31, and feature films until February 17, 2023.

About the festival:
The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) it’s a platform to promote and support the film production in Latin America through a rendezvous and collaboration of their industries, aiding in the development of new talents and distribution of films in the region so that they can access a wider audience.

Note: This article will only cover Competitions and Sections where international filmmakers (Non Ibero-American and Mexican filmmakers) can submit. For more information about other categories please visit: https://ficg.mx

International Animation Feature Film Competition:
– The festival accepts animated feature films over 60 minutes in length.
– Films must have been produced between 2022 and 2023.
– Films must have at least Mexican premiere at FICG. Films must not have been previously exhibited in Mexican territory, at any Mexican film festival either online or on-site, public screenings, broadcasts, distributed on Blu-Ray/DVD, internet streaming pages, social networks or VOD platforms

International and World Premieres will be prioritized for selection.
Maguey Award Competition
– For international feature fiction and documentary films (over 60 minutes) that address issues related to the LGBTQAI+ community.
– Films must have been produced between 2022 and 2023.
– Films must have at least Mexican premiere at FICG. Films must not have been previously exhibited in Mexican territory, at any Mexican film festival either online or on-site, public screenings, broadcasts, distributed on Blu-Ray/DVD, internet streaming pages, social networks or VOD platforms

Socio-Environmental Cinema Award Competition
– For fiction and documentary feature films (over 60 minutes) that address issues related to the crossing of society, nature and social justice.
– Films must have been produced between 2022 and 2023.
– Films must have at least Mexican premiere at FICG. Films must not have been previously exhibited in Mexican territory, at any Mexican film festival either online or on-site, public screenings, broadcasts, distributed on Blu-Ray/DVD, internet streaming pages, social networks or VOD platforms
– International and World Premieres will be prioritized for selection.

Rigo Mora Award for International Animation Short Films
– Accepts short animated films (below 30 minutes in length).
– Films must have been produced between 2022 and 2023.
– Films must have at least Mexican premiere at FICG. Films must not have been previously exhibited in Mexican territory, at any Mexican film festival either online or on-site, public screenings, broadcasts, distributed on Blu-Ray/DVD, internet streaming pages, social networks or VOD platforms.
– International and World Premieres will be prioritized for selection.
– No materials made for television, series, institutional, advertising or cutting materials are accepted.

– Films in different languages other than Spanish must count with English and Spanish subtitles.
– The presence of the filmmakers is mandatory for the fiction, documentary and animation feature films in competition. The absence of the director may be cause of withdrawal from selection.
– Submission must be made via Eventival.
Submission Fees:
* Feature Films – $ 200 Mexican Pesos | $ 11 USD
* Short Films – $ 100 Mexican Pesos | $ 5.5 USD
Deadlines:
* Short Films – January 31, 2023
* Feature Films – February 17, 2023
