6 Asian shorts will be screened at the 32nd Flickerfest International Short Film Festival

Six Asian short films will be screened during the Flickerfest International Short Film Festival which will take place from January 20 – 29, 2023 in Bondi Beach, Sydney (Australia).

A Lullaby For Yellow Roses by Rahul Roye – India | 2022 – 18 minutes

A migrant working-class couple, after losing their daughter to an ill-fated destiny, seeks friends in each other. (FlickerFest 2022)

Rule by Yitong Liu – China | 2022 – 12 minutes

In the sweltering summer of 2015, a girl Lu Yao transfers to a strict high school where all girls are required to cut their hair short. In order to keep her beautiful long hair, Lu Yao makes a bold decision.(FlickerFest 2022)

Southern Afternoon by Lan Tian – China | 2022 – 15 minutes

An Uyghur father living in Southern China accidentally discovers that his 14 year old daughter has received a possible love letter. Desperate to resolve his doubt, but unable to read Chinese mandarin, he can only ask his younger daughter to help read the letter.(FlickerFest 2022)

Tank Fairy by Erich Rettstadt – Taiwan, USA | 2021 – 10 minutes

Once upon a time, the magical Tank Fairy delivered tanks of gas (with plenty of sass) to the home of young Jojo, a lonely dreamer in need of a glittery godmother…(FlickerFest 2022)

Taste of Home by Ani Vo – Germany | 2022 – 29 minutes

A Vietnamese girl, Mai (17), who was trafficked to Germany, has to earn money for her family back in Vietnam, but is exploited and sold on by smugglers. She flees and asks a new friend for help, whose mother is part of the system herself.(FlickerFest 2022)

The Cave by Kim Jinman, Cho Jiyoung – Korea | 2022 – 13 minutes

A boy longs for his father’s affection, but his father is only interested in fishing. One day, his father dies, and the boy’s sense of loss turns into an obsession with his father’s belongings. In an imaginary cave, he curses his father’s relatives, who took treasured possessions. But the curse begins to eat the boy’s soul.(FlickerFest 2022)
