We present the Asian films that will be screened at the Tromsø International Film Festival (Norway) which will take place from January 16 – 22, 2023.

– Feature Films –

**Before, Now & Then** by Kamila Andini – Indonesia | 2022 – 103 minutes

Before, Now & Then is a strikingly beautiful film set in Indonesia in the mid-60s. Nana lives a good life with three children and an elderly, rich husband in Java. Indonesia’s turbulent history forms an unpleasant background in the film – and in Nana’s life. (TromsøIFF 2023)

**Decision to Leave** by Park Chan-wook – Korea | 2022 – 138 minutes

A detective’s burning desire leads to fatal consequences in master director Park Chan-wook’s newest film, a playful noir-inspired drama that alternately plays out as a murder mystery and a romantic tragedy. (TromsøIFF 2023)

**Joyland** by Saim Sadiq – Pakistan | 2021 – 126 minutes

In his directorial debut, Saim Sadiq plays with color, music, gender stereotypes, and prejudices in an emotional and beautiful film about a marginalized group in Pakistan. (TromsøIFF 2023)

**My Neighbor Totoro** by Hayao Miyazaki – Japan | 1988 – 86 minutes

When ten year old Mei and her little sister Satsuki move to the peaceful although enchanted countryside with their dad, they meet Totoro, the guardian of the forest. Suddenly, each day is filled with magical adventures in company of the giant forest spirit. (TromsøIFF 2023)

**Tank Fairy** by Erich Rettstadt – Taiwan | 2021 – 10 minutes

This is a proper drag-fairy tale about a boy who doesn’t feel like other boys. With a little magical help, he seeks his way into the glamourous and shiny world he wants be a part of. A transformation even his reluctant mother might have to accept. (TromsøIFF 2023)
